Planning of VM Sizes in terms for GB for Harddrive for HUB and Spoke

Tagged:

Dear All,

I am currently setting up a network of AEGIR-controlled serves, using a hub and spoke architecture.

If I understand it right, everything goes through the HUB, so the HUB has to have the size in GB for the maximum size of backup file I wanted to import to one of the Spokes.

After IMPORT, would the size be deleted from the HUB again? Otherwise importing sites might be prohibitiv.

If I work on a site under crush, would I always do so from the HUB? as the sites are there, too? So all the codebase will always also be on the HUB?

So that comes down to: At least the size of all the code-base. Maybe during an Import, all files could be avoided (simply removing from backup file) and added later to the spoke directly. In that manner, the HUB size could be kept small.

I am asking this question, as I am working with the HUB and SPOKE model for the first time. I planned to have a very small HUB (8GB with 512MB RAM) and fairly big spokes (64GB HD and up to 16 GB RAM).

Any recommendations?

thanks and best regards Christian
