Add another site install language option for Aegir sites

Tagged:

Is there a way to add a language option other than English for an Aegir sites default language? Currently only English install option shows, even though a I have the correct language po in profile/standard/translations directory.

I had the same question, and it took some time to figure out, so I thought I would post the answer:

All you have to do is follow the instructions for a normal drupal installation: https://www.drupal.org/documentation/install/language

So you don't have to click the link:
Languages are connected to the installation profiles.
1. Download the language file from the translation server. https://localize.drupal.org/download
2. You will find a directory named translations inside the directory of the profile you will be using. Normally you use standard profile, so you can use profiles/standard/translations. Move the downloaded .po file inside this folder.

You have to verify the platform after adding the translation files.
